In l986, V-Z Marine opened its doors (actually, it was
the garage doors at
our home) and started a small boat motor repair
service. The first employee
was hired the next year and is now our Sr. Mechanic. Our
"small" boat motor
repair service now operates out of a new 7,500 sqaure
foot complex on three
acres, along with a rental storage facility of over
13,296 square feet, on
Hwy. 150 in Coldspring, Texas. We have "service
only" franchises with
Mercury, MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, OMC Cobra, Johnson and
Evinrude.
In 2000 we became a Mercury Platinum Service Dealer, and
in 2003
we became a Mercury Premier Service Dealer. These awards
are only given
to the top Service or Sales dealers. Achieving
these awards are not easy.
The dealer must possess all necessary service tools, test
equipment and
service manuals to service Mercury products, maintain a
minimum of 80% in
Dealer Service Development, have current
"certified" technicians employed,
stock adequate inventory of Mercury Precision Parts and
Accessories to
service Mercury engines in the area. The dealership
must demonstrate a
willingness to service "all Mercury" customers
regardless of sales origin.
Here at V-Z Marine, we are proud that we have met and
exceeded this criteria.
Our goal is to help our customers maintain a pleasurable
boating experience.
Achieving this is partially done by "looking through
the eyes of our customers"
to see what the problem is (or perceived to be) and
coming up with a solution
in a timely manner. This may be achieved sometimes
with just communication,
giving tips on how to buy a boat or motor (new or used),
repairing the vessel
from the water up or helping the do-it-yourselfer with
parts & accessories.
We try to advise the customer of service that is really
needed ...
not just something that can turn a buck.
